Thomas Stearns Eliot is one of the twentieth century's major poet's. He was also essayist, publisher, playwright, and literary and social critic. It was followed by some of the best-known poems in the English language, including "The Waste Land" , "The Hollow Men" , "Ash Wednesday", and "Four Quarters".
" The Waste Land "
"The Waste Land" is a poem by The.S. Eliot, widely regarded as one of the most important poems of the 20th century and a central work of modernist poetry.
The poem's structure is divided into five sections.
1. ' The Burial of the Dead'
2. ' A Game of Chess'
3. ' The Fire Sermon'
4. ' Death by Water'
5. ' What the Thunder said'.
1) what are your views on the following image after reading ' The Waste Land'? Do you think that Eliot is as compared to Nietzsche's views? Or has Eliot achieved universality answer to the contemporary malaise?
Ans:-
Yes, I think T.S.Eliot or Nietzsche both own way but according to me both are importance contemporary because progressive and forward or regressive and backward looking like 'one corn two side' both are important.
past is very important or present also importance like past is shoulder upon setting present so Eliot had Historical sense (past) by see Nietzsche Modern history ( present).
So, religious or philosophy and science all are importance.
2) Prior to the speech, Gustaf Hellstrom of the Swedish Academy made these remarks.
Ans:-
Here , according to me I live both side may be Freud true or may be Eliot also true because I believe sometime or some situations live in individual or sometime live with tradition. Because may be individual or Modern man is important sometime or someplace of life or also Traditions or salvation man importance someplace or time both use in proper way is very important.
3) write about allusions to the Indian thoughts in 'The Waste Land'.
Ans:-
In poem use India word " The Fire Sermon " is also the name of sermon given by Buddha. In poem context of sexual perversion and by referring to this sermon of Buddha because he also wants to convey a message to stay detached from all the senses.
Three Da in use poem three Da is different worlds like "Datta" means to give, seconds "Dayadhvam" means sympathic and empathies yourself with the sorrows and suffering, " Damyata" means self control. This three words use in shantih shantih shantih contact also.
River Ganga and Himalaya in use words in Waste Land Ganga is river of purity and Himalaya is mountain of peace or spiritually so this two things solutions of all contemporary problems.
