Colonialism:-
Is the policy of a nation seeking to extend or retain its authority over other people or territories, generally with the aim of economic dominance. The colonising country seeks to benefit from the colonised country or Land mass.
Imperialism:-
Is a policy or ideology of extending a nation's rule over foreign nations, often by military force or by gaining political and economic control of other areas.
Post colonialism:-
Post colonialism or post colonial studies is the academic study of the cultural legacy of colonialism and Imperialism, focusing on the human consequences of the control and exploitation of colonised people and their Lands.
The term colonialism and Imperialism are usually considered as having a some kind of common elements between them. But there is also a different between them. It becomes a necessary to konw about difference between colonialism and Imperialism.
Ania Loomba's:-
Ania Loomba discussed in detail about these terms in her Colonialism and post colonialism. Ania Loomba is an Indian literary scholar. She is the author of colonialism and post colonialism and works as a Literature professor at the university of Pennsylvania.
Colonialism is the physical occupation of territory and post colonialism deals with the effects of colonization on cultures and societies. In the beginning of the book, on the publication of the 'Second Edition' of the book Peter Hulme.
According the OED
A settlement in a new country a body of people who settle in a new locality, forming a community subject to or connected with their parental state; the community so formed , consisting of the original settlers and their descendants and successors, as long as the connection with the parent state is kept up.
Imperialism:-
According to Lenin and Kautsky say Imperialism is higher than colonialism. Colonialism can be defined as the conquest and control other people's Land and goods. The OED defines 'Imperial' as the 'rule of an emperor, especially when despotic or arbitrary; the principal or spirit of empire; advocacy of what are held to be Imperial interests'.
As a matter of fact, the connection of Imperial with royal authority is highly variable.
Post colonialism:-
Ania Loomba mentioned this definition to begin with, the prefix 'post' complicates matters because it implies an 'aftermath' in two senses temporal, as in coming after, and ideological, as in supplanting. Post colonialism, the historical period or state of affairs representing the aftermath of Western Colonialism; the term can also be used to describe the concurrent project to reclaim and rethink the history and agency of people subordinated under various forms of Imperialism.
Post colonialism signals a possible future of overcoming colonialism, yet new forms of domination or subordination can come in the wake of such changes, including new forms of global empire.
Thank you for watching or reading....
